Moles Can Cause Costly Damage

If you suspect you have moles on your property, contact Halker's Wildlife Control Services, LLC. Moles are mammals that are common throughout Tennessee. They live underground in tunnels they dig using their shovel-like front feet. Moles are about 6 inches long and have short silky gray fur.

Moles are typically solitary but have been known to share tunnels - especially during the times of the year they have young. Moles are active all year round and especially during rainy seasons.

Moles typically feed on earthworms, grubs and other bugs they find in their tunnels which is the main reason that treating for just for grubs doesn’t solve problems.

Moles tend to be a reoccurring issue as there aren't any reliable repellents.  Our goal is to remove all the active moles in your yard during the timeframe of our service. However, some yards may need mole services several times a year to keep the neighbors' moles at bay. In some cases, a recurring yearlong mole remediation plan is required.  We typically suggest starting with our routine 3-week service.  If moles are continually moving into the yard, we can move to a yearly service.

Mole Problems and Solutions

Mound of dirt or tunnels indicate that you have moles. Moles destroy grass and leave yard full of bare spots and can cause thousands of dollars in landscaping damage. Moles can often be confused for gophers, but there aren’t gophers in Nashville.

Trapping is the best best method of control.

  • Poisons are not reliable and potentially dangerous, and you can't be sure if the poison has worked.
  • Electronic methods are not effective.
  • Repellents show little results in keeping moles at bay. Especially if the resident moles are not removed before repellent application. Often times applying repellent to an active mole will make it busier.
  • Grub treatments - studies have shown that a mole's diet consists of over 80% earthworms. Even if grub killing treatment is successful at removing grubs, it is only eliminating a small fraction of the moles diet.

Joey did a fanatic job taking care of the moles in our backyard and sealing our house to prevent birds. He was punctual and affordable. Highly recommend!
